About Dr. Nay Hser
Dr. Nay Hser is a Karen humanitarian eye surgeon and the Founder of Burma Vision, a charitable initiative dedicated to providing quality eye care services to underserved communities in Karen State and across Myanmar. For more than two decades, he has devoted his life to restoring sight and improving the quality of life of people living in rural, remote, and conflict-affected areas.
Humanitarian Service
Driven by a deep commitment to serve his community, Dr. Nay Hser has led countless mobile eye missions, bringing life-changing cataract surgery, vision screening, and essential eye care services directly to people who would otherwise have little or no access to treatment. Through his leadership, Burma Vision has performed more than 15,000 cataract surgeries and provided eye screening services to over 100,000 patients since 2013.
Recognizing the growing need for sustainable eye care services, Dr. Nay Hser established the Ker Paw Taw Lu Eye Clinic in 2025 to provide year-round diagnosis, treatment, surgery, and follow-up care for patients throughout Karen State.
A Lasting Legacy
Inspired by his lifelong humanitarian service, the Dr. Nay Hser Foundation was established to continue and expand this mission by supporting mobile eye missions, strengthening the Ker Paw Taw Lu Eye Clinic, and ensuring that vulnerable Karen communities have access to quality eye care for generations to come.
Dr. Nay Hser believes that restoring sight is more than treating blindness—it is restoring dignity, independence, opportunity, and hope.
