Our Story

Bringing the Gift of Sight to Karen Communities

The Dr. Nay Hser Foundation was established with a simple but powerful vision: to ensure that every Karen person in Karen State has access to quality eye care, regardless of where they live or their financial circumstances.

For many families living in rural and conflict-affected areas, blindness is not caused by untreatable disease but by limited access to healthcare. Conditions such as cataracts can often be treated through a simple surgical procedure, yet thousands of people continue to live with preventable blindness because they cannot reach medical services or afford treatment.

The Foundation exists to bridge this gap by bringing compassionate, high-quality eye care directly to those who need it most.

A Lifetime of Service

Inspired by a Lifetime of Service

The Foundation is inspired by the humanitarian work of Dr. Nay Hser, a Karen eye surgeon who has dedicated more than two decades to restoring sight among underserved communities in Myanmar.

Through his leadership of Burma Vision, Dr. Nay Hser and his team have provided eye care services to thousands of patients living in remote villages and conflict-affected areas. His commitment to serving people regardless of their background or ability to pay has become the guiding principle of the Foundation.

The Dr. Nay Hser Foundation was created to continue and expand this mission, ensuring that future generations can benefit from sustainable and accessible eye care.
